A Connected, Resilient & Vibrant Halfmoon Bay
… What does that mean?
At its core, it means a healthy community where people feel safe and heard, and where everyone has a sense of belonging.
On the ground, it translates as:
Neighbours who know and take care of each other, and are prepared to face emergencies;
Safe roads and pathways where people can walk and cycle with confidence;
Responsible service delivery that provides good value to residents, with careful attention to affordability for taxpayers;
Community hubs and social infrastructure that bring people together, strengthen connections and celebrate local culture;
Diverse and innovative housing options that allow seniors to age in place, and give workers and young families a place to call home;
Opportunities for youth to participate and contribute in their community, from local activities and recreation to meaningful employment;
Thriving volunteer groups that are supported and appreciated;
A community that can organize, advocate effectively and make its voice heard at every level of government;
A strong local economy, with development that benefits the community, supports local businesses and industry, creates good jobs, and respects the land and waters we steward for future generations;
Greater food resilience by supporting local farmers, growers and producers.
All of the above require strong local leadership, but cannot happen without involvement from the community and from higher levels of government.
It takes a village to make a village. Let’s build ours together.
